From March 21, 2018, on the International Day of Forests, the annual campaign of the State Forestry Agency of Ukraine, "The Future of the Forest is in Your Hands," begins. It will last for a month—until Environment Day, which will be celebrated on April 21 this year in Ukraine.

The International Day of Forests was established by the UN General Assembly in 2012. Every year, it is held under different themes. In 2018, the theme is "Forests and Urban Settlements." In Ukraine, this marks the beginning of the forest restoration campaign. State forestry enterprises start reforesting last year’s logging areas and creating new forests.

Deputy Head of the State Forestry Agency, Volodymyr Bondar, called on everyone to join the campaign and plant trees together with foresters throughout the month. "The campaign aims to foster respect for nature among the younger generation, encourage interest in forest conservation, and promote proper behavior in forests. We want to involve students, community members, and all interested citizens in forest creation while strengthening public trust in the forestry sector," he emphasized.

During the campaign, there will also be educational events such as excursions, thematic meetings, and lectures. "We encourage families to participate in our tree-planting campaign. There will be forest days for young children and students, as well as greening projects for orphanage grounds together with their residents and excursions to forests. Let’s restore forests together!" added Volodymyr Bondar.

In 2017, nearly 30,000 citizens participated in the campaign, setting a record. We hope to break that record this year together.
