Pine Sawfly Outbreak

The common pine sawfly (Diprion pini L.) is one of the main defoliating pests of Scots pine. It causes significant damage to pine stands, especially in plantations, and has two generations per growing season. It often forms local outbreaks that sometimes spread over large areas.

To prevent further damage, forestry officials are advised to intensify ground reconnaissance surveys in pine stands, especially where previous outbreaks were recorded.
