The Scientific and Technical Council of the State Forestry Agency of Ukraine has approved the "Recommendations for Assessing the Qualitative and Quantitative Impact of Harmful Insects and Pathogens on the Condition of Forest Crops Established on Large Burnt Areas." The authors and executors of the study were V.L. Meshkova, O.M. Kukina, S.V. Nazarenko, Yu.Ye. Skrylnyk, I.M. Sokolova, O.V. Zinchenko, M.S. Kolienkina, I.V. Porokhnyach, I.O. Bobrov, K.V. Davydenko, T.V. Kucheryavenko, S.O. Eroshenko, A.I. Aristova, and L.M. Koval.
The recommendations are based on years of research conducted by scientists from the Forest Protection Laboratory of UkrNDILGA, the Steppe Branch of UkrNDILGA, the Novgorod-Siverskaya LNDS UkrNDILGA, the Lugansk ALNDS UkrNDILGA, and the Kharkivlisozakhyst State Specialized Forestry Protection Enterprise. The recommendations provide a general characterization of the principles for accounting qualitative and quantitative indicators of the impact of harmful insects and pathogens on forest crops. They describe symptoms and signs of damage and infection by key pest species, as well as examples of calculations for the prevalence and intensity of crop damage based on the condition of individual plant organs. These recommendations are intended for forestry professionals, research and design organizations, and students of secondary and higher educational institutions.
