As part of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine's campaign "The Future of the Forest is in Your Hands" and to mark International Day of Forests which took place on March 21, specialists from the State Specialized Forest Protection Enterprise "Kharkivlisozakhyst" conducted presentations about Ukraine's forests on March 19-20, 2015 at Pokotyliv General Education Lyceum I-III Levels "Promin" and Babayiv Secondary School I-III Levels.

The presentations consisted of two parts. The first part covered general information about forest plantations in our country (forest distribution, forest cover, forest cultivation cycle, and the importance and uses of forests in the national economy).
The second part of the presentations provided information about forest protection and conservation, forest flora and fauna (including species listed in Ukraine's Red Book).

During the presentations, students actively engaged with the lecturers, asking questions. Particular attention was drawn to the forest protection overview, where students learned about the most common pests and diseases affecting Ukraine's forests.

In total, more than 150 students from grades 6-7 participated in the presentations.

Note that it was previously reported that the UN General Assembly declared March 21 as the International Day of Forests.
