The State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine conducted a production meeting with the heads of state specialized forest protection enterprises. Participants discussed the results of work in 2024 and outlined plans for 2025. Among the positive aspects was the growth of indicators in all four enterprises. Special attention was given to successes in international activities and career orientation work, which highlights the potential and importance of these directions.
For example, in 2024, the State Specialized Forest Protection Enterprise "Kharkivlisozakhyst", in cooperation with UkrNDILGA and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, launched a pilot research project to create common ash clone plantations for testing the resistance of Swedish clones to ash dieback (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus) and emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis).
This year, "Kharkivlisozakhyst" will also participate in a grant project aimed at forest restoration in mined territories using drones and GIS technologies.
Key discussion topics included problematic issues in the organization of forest protection activities and possible solutions. Participants determined further steps to improve the work of forest protection enterprises in both short-term and long-term perspectives.
Short-term tasks include:
✅ Implementing an effective control system for forest pathologists' work;
✅ Actively attracting international grants and donor assistance;
✅ Increasing career orientation events, engaging the public and students in forest protection activities;
✅ Organizing regular training for forest users;
✅ Updating official communication channels (websites, social networks);
✅ Analyzing the possibility of implementing biological pest control methods;
✅ Holding a meeting with UkrNDILGA regarding the implementation of the "Ukrainian Forest Protection" software product for forestry enterprises.
