On December 27, 2023, at the initiative of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine, an important training meeting was held aimed at improving the efficiency of forest protection enterprises. The event brought together representatives of state specialized forest protection enterprises and forestry enterprises of Ukraine.
A key aspect of the event were presentations by representatives of Ukraine's forestry sector, who shared their research and achievements regarding improving the sanitary condition of forests. The main tasks and functions of forest protection were considered, emphasizing their important role in ensuring the stability and health of forest stands.
In particular, the meeting discussed new research methods for detecting forest pests, such as laboratory analysis of entomological and phytopathological samples; attention was also drawn to the use of modern aerosol technology for treating forest areas against pests and diseases.
Representatives from the State Enterprise "Kharkivlisozakhyst" participated in the meeting: Head of the Forest Protection Biological Laboratory Nazarenko Olena Ivanivna, who spoke about the implementation of integrated forest protection, emphasizing the need to use integrated protection methods for a balanced and sustainable approach to forest management problems; and Forest Pathologist Engineer Kurylenko Kateryna Volodymyrivna, who considered the importance of using digital technologies in monitoring pests and diseases, examining new monitoring approaches using drones, satellite systems, and software for data collection and analysis.
The training meeting on familiarization with the main activities of state specialized forest protection enterprises was successful overall. We thank all participants for their attention and active participation in this important event that contributes to the development of effective forest protection strategies in Ukraine.
