During his visit to the Kharkiv region on July 31, 2020, Vasyl Kuzovych, the Head of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine, visited the State Specialized Forest Protection Enterprise "Kharkivlisozakhyst". Since 2018, the forest protection biological laboratory of SSFPP "Kharkivlisozakhyst" has been conducting research on the implementation of integrated forest protection methods within the framework of international cooperation between Turkey and Ukraine.
The biological laboratory has been headed for several years by Olena Nazarenko, who demonstrated the main stages of breeding predatory entomophagous insects - Thanasimus formicarius. After familiarizing himself with the work of the biological forest protection laboratory on breeding predatory insects, Vasyl Stepanovych noted that the use of biological methods to combat forest pests is a very promising direction and requires constant improvement and development. It is also necessary to constantly inform the public and hold seminars and meetings with environmental groups and interested parties about the work of forest protection enterprises in the field of biological pest control and the rescue of the planet's green lungs.
GARD units are ready to fight forest pests, as reported to the delegation by the head of the production sector, Serhiy Sydorenko. Recently, this technique has been mainly used for the application of biological preparations and for foliar fertilization with complex mineral fertilizers, which improve the general physiological condition of plantations and suppress the development of pests. After inspecting the forest protection equipment, Vasyl Kuzovych was interested in the effectiveness of extermination measures and the scope of forest protection work.
