Dear visitors, today we want to tell you about the consequences of the storm that hit the pine forests of the Kreminske Forestry and Hunting Enterprise in Luhansk region on June 28 of this year.
The storm affected the forests of Veryhinske, Kreminske, Kudriashivske, Serebrianske, Sitochne, and Starokrasnianske forestries.
The total affected area exceeds 600 hectares.
Currently, a forest pathology survey has been initiated to identify areas requiring sanitary and health-improving measures.
At this stage, pine stands that suffered the least damage from the storm and windfall—Kudriashivske and Sitochne forestries—have been examined. The total area of affected stands in these forests does not exceed 20 hectares.
Broken and uprooted trees are found either individually or in small groups of 2-4 trees.
Preliminary estimates suggest that the volume of damaged wood is approximately 36 cubic meters per hectare.
Further assessments are needed for Veryhinske, Serebrianske, and Starokrasnianske forestries. According to preliminary field inspections conducted by the forestry service, the affected area is about 550 hectares.
